Market leading die-cut lid and shrink sleeve manufacturer Clondalkin Flexible Packaging Bury (formerly Chadwicks) has appointed Lauren Stone as an Engineering Apprentice.

Lauren joins the company on a three-year apprenticeship and is the company’s first female engineer.

Working on a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering Maintenance – EME Engineered Systems (Pathway E) Advanced Apprenticeship, Lauren is working in the production department. Initial responsibilities include managing the change and setting of cutting tools, as well as the maintenance of a variety of printing, cutting and sleeving machinery and equipment.

Simon Timperley, Manufacturing Manager, said: “Lauren is a welcome addition to the team bringing with her a keen interest in learning and great enthusiasm.  We are delighted to have her working with us and developing her skills.”

Lauren’s apprenticeship sees her on a day release arrangement with her college time spent at Alliance Learning in Bolton.

Lauren said: “It’s great to get involved in a real manufacturing environment. The products we produce here are seen on every trip to the supermarket.  Outputting high quality products requires a lot of technical knowledge and specialist techniques behind the scenes that I am starting to understand.  I am finding it all very interesting and it’s a fast-paced learning environment.”
